Since 1981, October has been recognized as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic violence is the threat or action of emotional, physical, sexual, and/or financial abuse to coerce and control an intimate partner. It can happen to anyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, or other factors. And the mental health toll of domestic violence is staggering. Accordingly, the Berwyn Township 708 Community Mental Health Board supports local agencies Sarah’s Inn and Pillars Community Health as they address the mental health needs of Berwyn residents affected by domestic violence.

Sarah’s Inn recently launched what they call Domestic Violence Action Month with the unveiling of a powerful mural by artist Antonia Ruppert.
